Student Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program



Balmoral SHS BYOx 2019 


From the beginning of 2015 Balmoral State High School has operated a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) program for most year levels with in the school. In 2019, this program will be extended to all grades from Year 7 -12. The devices help schools engage the digital generation by nurturing individual learning experiences and 21st Century Skills.


To purchase a device for your child, we offer a variety of devices through our partner portals from JB Hifi Education and Dell:

Parents are also welcome to source their own device provided it meets our minimum specifications (listed below). 

Unsuitable Devices

The school does not recommend bringing the following devices into the school as they are known to be incompatible with the EQ network –

●      Google Chromebooks – require Google Drive/Docs which is blocked by EQ policy.

●      All Apple devices.​

●      Tablet based devices.​​



Please have the following installed for the beginning of the school year:

Microsoft Office 365 - use your EQ email adress (username + and password for free access

 Adobe PDF Reader
