Balmoral State High School is proud to have a strong network of caring homestay families, many of whom have been supporting our school community for years.
Homestay provides international students with a wonderful opportunity to experience everyday Australian life in a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment. Living with a host family not only helps students settle into a new culture but also improves their English skills through daily conversations and shared experiences.
We carefully select and work closely with each family to ensure the homestay experience is positive for both students and hosts. Because every family is unique, we do our best to match students with households that best suit their needs and personalities. Our goal is for every student to feel happy, comfortable, and supported so they have the best chance of success in their studies and personal growth.
All international students in the homestay program are expected to follow strict program guidelines, while also respecting the values, routines, and household rules of their host family. In return, families are committed to providing a safe, caring home environment.
To ensure student safety and wellbeing, all host families are screened in line with government legislation, and every household member over 18 must hold a current Blue Card (or exemption card) before a student can move in. Families also receive ongoing support and guidance from the school to help them in their role as homestay providers.
