Balmoral State High School is proud to be the secondary school partner within the Gateway Learning Community (GLC) — a long-standing and highly collaborative network of Brisbane state schools committed to creating strong educational pathways, connected communities, and outstanding opportunities for learners.

The Gateway Learning Community brings together six primary schools and Balmoral State High School, representing thousands of students, families, educators, and community members working together to support learning from the early years through to secondary education and beyond.

Our Member Schools

The Gateway Learning Community consists of:

Together, these schools form a connected learning community built on partnership, collaboration, and a shared commitment to student success.

A Connected Learning Journey

Established in 2002, the Gateway Learning Community has developed a reputation as a unique and successful model of educational collaboration within Queensland state education.

At its heart, the GLC is about creating seamless learning pathways and strong transitions for students as they progress from primary school into secondary education. Through shared planning, aligned practices, and meaningful partnerships, students and families benefit from a more connected educational experience.

The partnership supports continuity of learning, strengthens community relationships, and helps students feel confident, supported, and prepared for each stage of their educational journey.

Collaboration That Creates Opportunity

The strength of the Gateway Learning Community lies in its people.

Across the network, principals, teachers, students, parents, carers, and community partners work collaboratively to share expertise, build relationships, and create opportunities that extend beyond the individual school setting.

Through collective leadership and shared professional practice, member schools are able to:

  • Strengthen transitions from primary to secondary education
  • Share teaching expertise and evidence-informed practice
  • Develop collaborative learning opportunities for students and staff
  • Foster leadership, wellbeing, and community engagement initiatives
  • Build strong partnerships that support innovation and educational excellence

This collaborative approach enables schools to leverage the collective strengths of the entire community to deliver meaningful and high-quality outcomes for learners.

Building Bridges of Opportunity

The Gateway Learning Community embodies the belief that education is strengthened through partnership.

By working together under a shared vision, the GLC continues to nurture a strong sense of identity, belonging, and collective purpose across its member schools. The willingness to collaborate, celebrate success, and support one another has created a networked community where innovation, opportunity, and learner success can thrive.

As a proud member of the Gateway Learning Community, Balmoral State High School remains committed to building strong educational partnerships and creating pathways that empower every student to learn, grow, and succeed.
