Our performing arts pupils reap the benefits of a department run by teachers with real-world experience in their fields, who link curriculum outcomes with industry-based practice. Outside of the classroom, we offer a range of creative teams and projects for pupils to deepen their cultural understandings through direct engagement with arts practice.

School Musical

Every two years, pupils from all year levels have the opportunity to perform in a whole-school musical production. In 2022, The Addams Family Musical was lauded by audiences, with over 700 parents, family members, colleagues and pupils in attendance over the production’s two evening performances.

Showcase Evening

In the off year, pupils from across the creative industries disciplines are invited to assemble a selection of works to present at our performing arts showcase evening.

Cheerleading

Cheerleading is a mix of dance and gymnastics and is an opportunity for pupils to become a part of a team, develop leadership skills and, most of all, build strong friendships. The team has the amazing opportunity to work with a choreographer and judge of the World Cup Cheer & Dance Competition.

POM

In 2016, we introduced POM, which blends cheerleading with hip hop and jazz styles of dance. This group is exclusively a senior dance team, accepting members from year 10 and above. Its routines are of a high skill level, with challenging formations and jumps, turns and leaps.

Hip Hop Team

A popular and large team, members have had the privilege of working with professional choreographers, Bessy & Shahdom, from MnB Entertainment. This team competes in two competitions each year: the World Cup Cheer & Dance Competition and Remix.

TASS Team

The technical and stage support team is an opportunity for its members to explore the potential avenues of a career in the technical areas of the creative industries. TASS team members are responsible for the  implementation of all technical requirements—lights, sound and vision—for weekly assemblies, annual awards nights,  school musicals and other functions. They are the custodians of the hall as a performance and presentation venue.

Instrumental Music

Our instrumental music program emphasises performance skills, musical understanding, perceptive listening and positive attitudes.

Weekly Assemblies

Performing arts pupils are encouraged to make the most of public performance opportunities at our weekly whole-school assembly.
